King Crimson - Live at Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts, Orlando, FL, USA - 26/07/2021 (Bootleg Download)

Taper: whoawhoami

Taper Notes: First 10 minutes are just us bullshitting, talking about our drinks for the night. They had Tony Levin (I think) doing the opening act with his interesting looking guitar plus other people, they ended up covering two old Pink Floyd era tracks, but I didnt end up recording that. They are playing a Frippian ambient soundscape over the PA but it can be hard to hear. The audio also includes the Fripp music can change the world skit, near 15 minutes in if i recall correctly. The setlist online is currently wrong, Set 2 opened up with Crimson King, followed by Radical Action and Level 5.

Editor Notes: Trimmed a lot of the chatting and noise that came up across the recording. Leveled the audio in some parts and added fade in/fade out moments at the end/beginning of both sets as well as the encore (personally I think the end result turned out pretty great). Even though song quality itself isn't that great, the setlist itself is superb, and a lot of renditions of the songs are marvelous to listen to. Really worthwhile for those who are interested in this current lineup of the band.

Orbital - In Sides (The Complete Unofficial Compilation) (1996) Album / Bootleg Download

Doesn't do anything because that is not how copyright works, but its good to clarity: I don't do this for any credit or income. All respective rights go to Orbital. This is just the work of a fan who really loves the music these people have created and deeply respects them and thanks them for their efforts.

Orbital. In Sides. There is a lot to say about this album, about that magnific duo who has been wonderfully consistent and prolific across what is now a 20+ years long career, but this is not the time to do so. It is the time, somehow, to explain a bit about the different issues, bonus tracks, and related material that has been associated with what is usually considered their best project. Deluxe and special editions are nothing new when it comes to Orbital releases, from their 1991 debut to their 2018 album there have been plenty of reissues, region exclusive, or limited editions that have come out over the years (usually including something unique that distinguishes them from other versions), and In Sides sure isn't an exception to the rule.

Over the years the album has managed to maintain its reputation as a classic album that any fan of techno/electronic should check out, but during its release in 1996 there were already a series of different versions of the album that had different bonus material included in them. The material itself wasn't trying to add things to the main experience, but instead focused on showcasing the wide range of concepts and ideas that were being handled around that time, in that particular point where the duo was trying to use their instrumental pieces as a way to reflect on morality and the damage that humanity was dealing to the environment. But among the many versions of the album there were certainly some that stood out due to the amount of material that they brought to the table.

In first instance we got the special collector's limited edition boxset that included the main album and the original version of "The Box" single which was only released as a UK exclusive, with the big track split up into a four part piece that certainly had a lot to offer in its originality and appeal (also considering it would go down as one of the band's most beloved songs, mostly thanks to the music video that came along with it). After that there were two different versions of the album that were released early on in 1996, each one containing a bonus CD of bonus material but at the same time having that same bonus material being very different. In the US the bonus CD contained two versions of "Satan", "The Saint" single and its respective remix "The Sinner", and a live version of "Halcyon". In the UK the bonux CD contained the "Times Fly" EP as well as a special mix of "The Box" single. With that alone there was already plenty of material to dive into, with future versions and reissues simply staying as a one CD version, sometimes including "The Saint" as a bonus track. However, during the rise of online forums and music blogs, different bootleg versions of In Sides started surfacing, with a point in time where the Macro Head bonus track for the Green Album was being wrongfully associated with In Sides, being a common ocurrance to find it included along side "The Saint" or "The Box" in digital copies of the album, becoming a bootleg bonus in spirit.

However, one thing that is certainly curious about In Sides is the fact that after its main release in 1996 and subsequent reissues in 2000 and 2001, there have not been any re-releases or new versions that bring all the bonus material together in an official way; and that is where this bootleg comes into existence. Personally, I consider In Sides as a very important album in my musical journey, considering all the related bonus material to be as important and excellent as the main album itself. A fantastic album that conveys a powerful message that is still relevant nowadasy on a unique way, and that was the culmination of all the ideas that the duo was working with at the time, with stuff like "The Box" and "The Saint" singles being highly praised fan favorites. In that spirit, what is being brought here is not a re-interpretation or a reconstruction of the album, it simply is, as the title suggests, a way of compiling all that bonus material together into one huge release, giving all that masterful material the rightful treatment it deserves.
